I have a brand new LG 27UK850-w Monitor and have it connected via HDMI to my PC but the USB hub on the back of my my monitor is not working. Stuff that is plugged in there won't get power or show up on my desktop like for example a USB stick. When I connect my MBP via USB-C however the ports are working without any problem.
For what its worth you would experience similar issues if it were Dell USB C docks. The problem is that the Startech docks use DisplayLink chipsets, and you need the drivers for the video to function properly. Displayport video signals will pass right through them, but dvi, vga, and HDMI do not. Navigate to Control Panel > Device Manager > Sound, video, and game controllers, then double click to check the status. If working properly, you want to go ahead and update the driver to rectify the sound problem with the LG monitor. Allow the PC to restart automatically, then start using the sound speakers on the LG monitor. I want to extend my display using upstream usb port, I have two Monitor Elite Display 233 and want to extend these two, In Mobile workstation there is no VGA port so I was trying to use USB upstream for extending display. Hope It should work. The monitor connected to the HDMI port would sporadically lose signal, or not find signal at all. I'd have to turn the monitor off then on, sometimes it would work. Yesterday it didn't work at all thru the HDMI port. I tried the other monitor, the one connected to the adapter, and connected directly thru the HDMI port. No signal. . 44 421 281 347 75 50 385 186
